Anna Paquin is a Canadian as well as a New Zealand actress. Paquin is a native of Winnipeg was raised in Wellington and first made her acting debut as Flora McGrath when she played the character as Flora in The Piano. She won an Academy Award at the age of 11 years old for Best Actress Supporting Actress. Anna Paquin full name Anna Helene Paquin born July 24, 1982 in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. Canadian-born New Zealand actor who won the Academy Award as a youngster as Best Supporting Actress playing the enthusiastic and curious daughter of Holly Hunter's main character The Piano. The role as Flora McGrath - the daughter of the Scottish mute pianist in New Zealand at mid-19th Century was a part she won after she participated in an audition open to all. In her twenties, she had little or no experience acting. As a teenager she emigrated into the United States. Paquin played the lead role in Fly Away Home in 1996 and had a minor part in the film as Jane Eyre when she was still a toddler. Paquin portrayed Frankie Addams as a child in the TV film adaptation Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin also had a role of the queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's 1997 movie Amistad. She played teenagers as part of Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000) and portrayed her Polexia Aphrodisa girl as part of Almost Famous (2000).
